WHY CHOOSE A CPA?

An accountant is not necessarily a Certified Public Accountant, but a CPA is an accountant who has gone a step further to become certified. Only those who have acquired the educational requirements of 150 credit hours from an accredited college or university which includes coursework in accounting and other business subjects and have passed all parts of the CPA exam are granted the Certified Public Accountant license to practice by the State Board of Accountancy. Once a CPA is licensed, an annual minimum number of continuing professional education credits including an ethics training requirement are required each year to maintain this license to practice. South Carolina current requires 40 hours per year. For more information on the South Carolina requirement please visit the SC Board of Accountancy. In making your decision to choose an accountant, you should feel confident the person you select to handle your financial affairs is competent and ethical. The CPA designation gives you that sense of security, since only those individuals that have fulfilled the requirements of the State Board of Accountancy are granted the right to use the CPA designation and practice as such.
